UKRAINE EMBASSY IN NIGERIA UNDER SIEGE

Image
As hundreds of Nigerians in Ukraine are struggling to return home, there are reports that about 115 young men have offered to join Ukraine in its fight against Russia. According to the Guardian in Africa’s most populous country, the men, who besieged the Ukraine Embassy in Abuja, also put down their names in a register provided by the embassy. The Second Secretary, Ukraine Embassy, Bohdan Soltys, confirmed the development, adding that no step had yet been taken to that effect. The volunteers may have been responding to a recent call by Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, urging people around the world to join the fight. In a statement released last Sunday, the President accused the Russian army of killing civilians and praised Ukrainians for having the courage to defend themselves.         He said that the assault by Russia was not just “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine” but also the beginning of a war against democracy and basic human rights. Zelensky had ca...

DAMPARE SHOULD INVITE ATUKUBA FOR INCITING THE MILLITARY AGAINST THE STATE BY SAYING "GHANA IS RIPE FOR COUP"

Professor Atukuba, a dean at the University of Ghana who also served in the NDC- Mahama administration has indicated that a coup in Ghana today would be justifiable due to economic hardship in the country.        This has got many Ghanaians  talking. many has questioned whether the previous government of the NDC which he was a member was not ripe for coup when they inflicted so much hardship on the citizenry. Ghanaians suffered dumsor, when industry came toa halt as a result of  lack of power. many businesses collapsed. In Professor Atukuba''s own government, allowances to trainee students were cancelled due to lack of money as explained by the then government was the NDC. workers worked for 3 years but were paid only 3 months due to lack of funds.    Indeed, the president of the time mr. Mahama publicly admitted the economic hardship in the country in his popular quote ''ye awe nam ama na aka nnompe'' (which literally mean we have exhauste...

WHO LEADS THE GREAT NPP COME 2024?

Image
In previous articles, I chronicled the contributions of His Excellency Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the growth and resilience of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition in the Fourth Republic, and also his unflinching love for Ghana’s development. As Vice President and head of the Economic Management Team (EMT), his exploits have been well documented. He has done solid work on the economic fundamentals capable of posting long-term sustained growth; He has pursued strong and interconnected digitisation policies ably; His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has a more straightforward view of Ghana’s capacity to not only develop, but do so in a fair and equitable manner, and indeed it is fair to say his track record of economic stability remains intact. Political parties will ordinarily shop for such materials to lead them, and luckily in the case of the NPP, no such search is necessary. In an earlier article, readers may recall, I argued that Dr. Bawumia represents a happy coincidence of c...
